Howdy y’all,
Thank you for all the warm birthday wishes. I’m so excited to step into this new circle around the sun with such joyous welcome. A special thank you to the friends and lovers that helped make the celebrations especially libacious this year.
Now, I want to address some rumors… I will, in fact, be available in NYC until mid-January! After so much travel this summer, I have decided to have a true reprieve and settle here for the holiday season. After all, Christmas in the city is too romantic for me to ever pass up.
If you would like to see me before the year is out, get in touch! I will only be available in other cities by FMTY/TMTY, and after the holidays I will be leaving the country again. Inquiries, love letters, and RSVPs are to be sent to minayoon@pm.me
For this little newsletter, I’m introducing something new! Each month I’ll be curating a list of date ideas, available and eager for the taking.
This month Metrograph is showing a number of Pasolini’s works; Mama Roma, Teorema, The Decameron, and most infamously… Salò. The theater is also showing Fellini’s Casanova, if you prefer to be freaky without the theme of aggressive fascism entering your film.
Up next is brand new NYC club… Swingers! I promise it’s not what it sounds like. Swingers is a London based experience, offering proper food, curated cocktails, live djs, and, well… mini golf. They have three different courses of nine holes each, set up to show off your competitive edge and impress me with your put-put skills.
Lastly, and I’m certain this will be my absolute favorite, Naro has just opened in Rockefeller center. This is the third restaurant from Ellia and Junghyun Park of Atomix and Atoboy fame. The food, while contemporary, is rooted in cuisine from the Joseon dynasty. Subtle flavors, vegetable forward, emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients—of course it fits within the current western narrative of fine dining—but Naro may be the only restaurant outside of Korea creating this specific type of cuisine.
If you can’t manage to get us a reservation, well, maybe I can pull some strings…
until then…
