Hi dear readers,
I hope everyone has been having a fun and safe summer :) July flew away from me so fast! Aside from being busy with moving and getting back into my creative work flow, I’ve been spending so many days either at the beach soaking up the sun or trying new restaurants with friends and fellow companions.
Summertime for me means crudo and tartare, I simply can’t get enough of it these days. I had an absolutely divine one at Sushi by M, my favorite casual neighborhood spot. Their sushi stands on it’s own by sheer quality, but the chef adds a certain whimsy to the menu with items like the “viagra shooter” and the “big mac.”
Also on my consistent list of favorites is Ernesto’s, the basque spot I featured in an earlier newsletter a couple months ago. They’ve gained an insane amount of popularity following their glowing NYT review this spring, and now with their liquor license fully instated, it’s my favorite Friday night spot.
And of course, any late summer restaurant tour wouldn’t be complete without classic moules-frites! This dish always reminds me of my summers in France, every bite sends me back. One thing I’ve learned, when cooking mussels yourself, is that you should always buy farm raised, rope grown ones for the best (and most ethical!) taste. My favorite ones are from soho staple Felix, but these ones I had at Sunday in Brooklyn come close!
Needless to say, I’ve been fully taking advantage of the al fresco dining in the city. I have availability for August in NYC and FMTY on a limited basis. My dear friend Brynn Michaels is in town and we’re offering duos this month as well. Brynn has been a close friend for years and we always have such a wonderful time together. She truly is one of my favorite companions to spend time with, and I would love to share our mutual pleasure with you wether it be dinner, drinks, or a spa day!

Until then…
